Romanian National Culture Day Marked at the Romanian Orthodox Parish in Northampton

The Cultural Sector of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Atanasie, is organising an event dedicated to Romanian National Culture Day, to be held on Sunday, 11 January, at the Romanian Orthodox Parish of the Entrance of the Mother of God into the Temple in Northampton.

Following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, a short cultural and historical programme will take place, including moments of poetry, piano performance, and Romanian art song, offering the faithful an opportunity to celebrate the cultural and spiritual values of the Romanian people.

The event is dedicated to Mihai Eminescu, the national poet of Romania, whose work has profoundly shaped the Romanian language, culture, and national consciousness. Through the depth of his poetic creation and thought, Eminescu remains a fundamental reference point of Romanian cultural identity, while 15 January is symbolically observed as Romanian National Culture Day.

Through this initiative, the Archdiocese encourages the preservation and transmission of Romanian cultural values within diaspora communities, reaffirming the natural bond between faith, culture, and identity.
